Bill & Rita Johnson

Bill & Rita Johnson - 1972 State President

Bill & Rita Johnson are members of the "Swinging Squares" square dance club at Webb City, Missouri. They have been dancing since 1969. That doesn't seem like such a long time, but they have come a long way in promoting the square dance movement in that time. They have served as Secretary of their square dance club and are currently the newly elected President of the "Swinging Squares". They served as Southwest District Vice President in 1971, and were on the Southwest District Festival Committee for the "Springtime in the Ozarks" Festival in June of this year. Bill & Rita served the State Federation as State Treasurer in 1971 and were the 1971 State Festival Chairman for the annual Festival in October in Sedalia, At the December State Federation meeting in Fulton, Missouri, Bill & Rita were elected President of the State Federation for 1972.

The Johnsons proud parents of three children ages 10, 9 and 6. They are active in PTA and other school affairs.

Bill is a member of the firm of Crede & Moore, C. P. A., and is an accountant by trade. He has worked for the firm for 3 1/2 years. He attended school in Carthage and went on to Joplin Jr. College and Missouri University. Bill is secretary of the Carthage Park Board and enjoys such sports as football, tennis, skiing, and swimming, when time permits.

Rita is a typical housewife. She has just undertaken a part-time job as bookkeeper for the Carthage area Sheltered Workshop. She stays active with such hobbies as gardening, sewing, and making ceramics.

Bill & Rita are avid square dancers and hope to be around for many years. They believe that square dancing keeps you young, and everybody wants to be young, don't they?
