Message From the from Missouri Federation President
Attention Presidents... Club Members... All dancers...

Coronavirus Announcement

Hi to all of our dance friends,

In our Square Dance world, some concerns about the Coronavirus have been expressed.

The virus has made us live on a day-by-day basis as to which activities we participate in.

We are asking that you consider taking some precautions to avoid spreading Coronavirus virus.

As Presidents of the Missouri Federation of Square 'N Round Dance Clubs, Fred and I, along with the officers of the Federation, are suggesting for the next 30 days you consider cancelling your dances.

If you do, please let Dan Wheeler know, as well. He would appreciate it.

Phone or Text 816.223.0803, E-Mail

This is not a mandate, but certainly a hope to keep our friends healthy for decades of dancing to come.

In our area, the KCMO Health Director, Dr. Rex Archer, and KCMO EMS Medical Director, Dr. Erica Carney, issued the following recommendations during a media briefing with Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas:

"The KC state of emergency health recommendations for all ages of people for the next 21 days: People who are 60 years of age or more, or who have underlying health conditions, should strongly consider not attending events with large crowds. People who are 70 years old or more should not attend events with large crowds. Everyone should continue to use good hygiene and avoid handshakes."

Even our church has changed their church greeting policy going forward until the virus threat is over to avoid hugs and handshakes.

Sad but real. As a contact sport, we cannot avoid nor want to avoid handshakes and hugs.

If you do plan to go to a dance you should call the club contact or check the Missouri web site for cancelations.

Please do consider safety for all.

Fred and Carolyn Goucher, Missouri Federation President
