Missouri Square Dance Pictures

Would you like to have your Square Dance pictures on this site?

Policy
1.  Pictures on this web site must pertain to Missouri square dances or Missouri square dancers.
2.  The webmaster reserves the right to decide whether or not the content is appropriate.  Pictures that the webmaster considers inappropriate will NOT be added to the web site.  This decision will be based strictly on the webmasters judgment.  The only court of appeal is his wife and she is a conservative..
3.  Pictures added to this web site may be altered to make them "look better" on the web site.  (Usually this means that since the pictures on the web site are small, empty space will be removed.  Also, the pictures may have to be lightened to be seen on the web site.  Pictures will not be altered to change their intent or basic content.)
4.  Include the club name, location, and date of the dance.  If it is a special dance include the name of the special.  If there is anything else "special" about the dance, include that.
Printed Photographs
1.  Send printed photographs to the webmaster.  Appropriate Pictures will be scanned, altered if necessary, and uploaded.
2.  If you want your original photograph(s) returned, send a self addressed envelope with adequate postage and it (they) will be returned as soon as it has (they have) been processed.  Since I am by nature, not a very neat person, I do not absolutely guarantee that your pictures will be returned, but I will do my best.)
Digital Photographs by CD (Best for several photographs)
1.  If your computer has CD burning equipment, you may mail digital pictures to the webmaster on a CD.  This is, by far, the most convenient method for large numbers of pictures.  If you want your CD returned, enclose $2.00 for postage and handling.  Be sure to enclose your address.  I know a lot of square dancers in Missouri by face, but not by name, and certainly not by address.  CD's may be mailed in pasteboard envelopes made for 5" X 7" photographs.  One or two CD's may be mailed in an envelope for 83 cents with the envelopes that I use.  I use "Henkel" brand envelopes SKU #07535310545, sold by Office Max.  If CD's are not returned, they will be destroyed after use.
2.  Picture(s) sent by CD may be sent without reducing the file size.  I will do that before I upload it (them).
Digital Photographs by E-Mail
PLEASE do not send a large number of full size picture files without reading the following.
1.  If you are using a "Windows" computer, You may use "Windows Explorer" (Also called "Computer", "My Documents", or "My Computer") (not "Internet Explorer") to reduce the file size of the pictures.

Windows Vista (Windows 7 will probably work much the same way):
1.  Locate the folder that contains the pictures.
2.  Select the pictures you wish to send.
3.  Immediately above the pictures, click on "E-Mail".
4.  On the menu that opens, click on the down arrow, and select "640 x 480.
5.  Click "Attach".
6.  When your computer has finished processing the pictures, it will open "Windows Mail" ready to send with the pictures attached.
7.  Insert the E-Mail address
webmaster@SquareDanceMissouri.com and send.  If you are using an "On line" E-Mail client, such as yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc., skip this step.
8.  If you are using an "On line"
E-Mail client, such as yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc., continue.  If you are using "Windows Mail", you are done.
9.  Click on the "File" pull down menu, and click on "Save Attachments".  On the menu that opens, use the "Browse" button to locate a folder where you can save the pictures.  An empty folder is best.  You may make one especially for this purpose, if you wish.
10.  Use your E-Mail client to send the pictures you saved, as attachments.

Windows XP:
1.  Locate the folder that contains the pictures.
2.  Select the pictures you wish to send.
3.  On the left, click on "E-Mail the selected items".  If "E-Mail the selected items" is not there, click on "Folders" Immediately above the pictures, and it should appear on the left.
4.  On the menu that opens, select "Make all my pictures smaller".
5.  Click "OK".
6.  When your computer has finished processing the pictures, it will open "Outlook Express" ready to send with the pictures attached.
7.  Insert the E-Mail address
webmaster@SquareDanceMissouri.com and send.  If you are using an "On line" E-Mail client, such as yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc., skip this step.
8.  If you are using an "On line"
E-Mail client, such as yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc., continue.  If you are using "Outlook Express", you are done.
9.  Click on the "File" pull down menu, and click on "Save Attachments".  The pictures will be saved in the folder you have previously chosen.   An empty folder is best.  You may make one especially for this purpose, if you wish.  (You can change this folder location in Outlook Express by clicking on the "Tools" pull down menu, then on "Options", then on the "Maintenance" tab.  Two Thirds of the way down, click on the "Store Folder" button, and chose the folder you would like to use to save attachments in.)
10.  Use your E-Mail client to send the pictures you saved, as attachments.

Macintosh:
There is probably a similar process for reducing picture file sizes, but I am not familiar with this operating system.

If your camera came with a program to send pictures attached to E-Mail, you can use that to E-Mail the photographs to the webmaster.  If you have the option, select the lowest quality of picture to send (this will often be referred to as "for viewing", "Make all my pictures smaller", or 640 x 480", etc.).

2.  If you must send a large number of pictures in their full file size (as taken) form, please contact the webmaster first for permission.  A large number of large picture files can cause problems with E-Mail.  I will be happy to help you prepare your pictures for E-Mail if you don't know how.  There are also some "work arounds" that will help with sending large picture files - such as sending several E-Mail with a few large picture files attached to each E-Mail.
3.  If you know how, you may send a large number of pictures by "Zipping" Them.
Photographs on Your Web Site
1.  If you already have your "Missouri" square dance pictures on a web site, send the URL (address) of the web page where the pictures may be accessed, and I will add a link to your pictures to "Missouri Square Dance Pictures".
2.  Include the name under which you would like the pictures listed as well as the club location.  If it is a special dance include the name of the special as well as location, and date of the dance.  If there is anything else "special" about the dance, include that.
3.  If you would like help setting up a web site for your club or just for pictures for your club or special dance, contact the webmaster.  Free web space is available, and making and uploading web pages is not difficult.

If you have any questions about what can be put on this web site or how to do it, contact the webmaster.
